Northport Nursery School Safe Snacks
On your child’s designated snack day, he/she will bring in a snack from our Safe Snack List to share with his/her classmates. All snacks that are brought in will need to be pre-packaged and easy to serve with the exception of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables must be prepared in our kitchen to avoid cross contamination. For example, pre-sliced apple packages and pre-cut vegetable platters will be sent home. Your child’s teacher will let you know if you need to be aware of any food allergies.
We are sensitive to students with food allergies and work diligently to accommodate children with gluten, peanut/tree nut, soy and other allergies. A system of checks and balances ensures that the food offered to our students has been approved by parents and staff.

- Snyder’s pretzels that are labeled made in a nut-free facility: Available at Stop & Shop, Target and Costco
- Kinnikinnick Graham Style Crackers: Available at Wild By Nature, Stop & Shop
- Abe’s Muffins (blueberry or corn only - not chocolate chip): Available at Whole Foods
- Made Good Granola Bars, Granola Squares and Crispy Squares: Available at Whole Foods and Stop and Shop
- Most Fruits and Vegetables: No carrots, they are a choking hazard. Please refrain from sending in grapes. Berries are a welcome snack.
- BelGioioso and Polly-O Cheeses: NOT cheese sticks or cheese balls as these could be a choking hazard.
- GoGo SqueeZ Applesauce On The Go: GREEN pouches only. We cannot serve GOGO SqueeZ SmoothieZ or YogurtZ products as they are made in a facility with tree nuts and peanuts.
